Machine
Machines[1] appear in the BOXBOY! series and are a predominant aspect of the story. They function by a living box sitting in a gap at the base of the machine who then is turned black as the machine powers up. It removes black smoke from the area, allowing players to progress.
Games
BOXBOY!
In BOXBOY!, Qbby awakens on a planet covered in black smoke. Along with Qucy and Qudy, he activates all the machines and restores the planet. The final machine is activated along with Qucy.
BOXBOXBOY!
Qbby, Qucy, and Qudy are all in the machines they activated in the previous game.
BYE-BYE BOXBOY!
In BYE-BYE BOXBOY!, the Qbabies activate the machines located on their respective planets to restore them. Upon reaching the black-smoke planet, the Box Ship fires three machines at it. Only one makes it due to the others being swallowed by black smoke missiles, but its top part is broken. Qbby, Qucy, and Qudy activate the machines resulting in the black smoke planet exploding.
BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL!
Machines appear again in BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL!. The machines are set out across a meteor which is going to collide with the planet. Qbby and Qucy sacrifice themselves in the machines to destroy the meteor. For the final machine, Qbby requires Miracle Boy! in order to fill a two-box wide space.
