BOXBOY! Day is an unofficial holiday created by HAL Laboratory, which was made to promote the BOXBOY! series. It takes place annually on the fifth of August.

Events

As BOXBOY! Day is not a real holiday, no major events take place during it. The most common thing that HAL Laboratory has done during BOXBOY! Day is merely just to mention it on social media.

On rare occasions, however, HAL has commemorated the day with events. For example, between August 5th and August 31st of 2018, UNIQLO x BOXBOY! held a special event for BOXBOY! Day where players with the highest scores could win prizes, such as a Qbby keychain or BOXBOY! comic book. The grand prize for the player who scored the most points over the course of the event was a copy of Hakoboy! Stuffed Box.[1]

Unofficially, some fans of the BOXBOY! series may celebrate BOXBOY! Day on social media platforms, such as Discord and X (formerly Twitter), or draw fan art commemorating the day.

Trivia

  • The date "08/05" can be read in Japanese as "ha ko". ハコ (Hako) is the Japanese word for "box".
