Hiya | Hiya! Today's the 10th anniversary of the original BOXBOY! game, and I have a special announcement to make. After almost 10 years of operation on Fandom (originally Wikia), the BOXBOY WIKI! staff have unanimously decided to establish a new, independent wiki. | ||
This decision was made in light of semi-recent controversy surrounding our original host, Fandom. Fandom has been criticized in recent years due to some poor decisions, such as placing intrusive ads throughout the website, forcing every user to confirm their age, and adding Fandom-branded buttons throughout the wiki that don't have anything to do with the site. Unlike Wikipedia, Fandom is a company, and naturally that means they're going to go for the business strategy that generates them profit. But the BOXBOY WIKI! isn't trying to generate revenue, we're just a fun project. He is in charge of several smaller wikis, develops the Indie Wiki Buddy browser extension, and is an administrator at the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance (who we are also intending to join). Needless to say, he's quite qualified for the job of running the new wiki. He has also acquired us a very nice and easy-to-remember domain name: boxboy.wiki. PanchamBro has also been brought on board to design a theme for the new wiki.
