The main mechanic of BOXBOY! is Qbby, Qucy, and Qudy's ability to create boxes. Players can place boxes they create by pressing ↓ on the D-pad, or throw them by pressing Y whilst holding a box.
Duel Boxes
In BOXBOXBOY!, Qbby is granted the ability to create two sets of boxes by Planetron. After creating two sets of boxes, the next time players create a box it replaces the first set. The different sets of boxes are indicated by colour.

Up Hook can be used to pull Qbby onto ledges he couldn't reach otherwise. It can be used to maneuver Qbby through narrow gaps which he couldn't ordinarily fit through such as one block holes. Up Hooks will only pull Qbby if one of his boxes is touching the top of a platform, otherwise it will treat it as ordinary box creation.
